FAQ

What is a Prism?

A Prism is a visual aid for meditative prayer, made to keep you anchored in contemplation of the mysteries of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Blessed Mother Mary. It's 20 playing-card-sized cards joined into one sheet that stands up as a triangular prism, so the images sit right in front of you while you pray.

How do I use it?

Stand it up in front of you and, as you pray each decade, rest your eyes on the image of that mystery. When your mind wanders, and it will, the image gives you somewhere to come back to.

The Scripture for each mystery is printed on the back of its card. Most people pray with the images facing them, but if the images start to feel familiar, or you simply prefer to meditate on the Word, turn it around and pray with the Scripture instead.

Which Prism should I choose?

Rosary Prism: for the daily Rosary, with all 20 mysteries.
Stations of the Cross Prism: for Lent and Friday devotion, with all 14 Stations plus opening and closing prayers.
St. Michael's Chaplet Prism: for the Chaplet of St. Michael and the nine Choirs of Angels.
Meditations on Mary Prism: for the Seven Sorrows of Mary and the Magnificat.
Nicene Creed Prism: for praying and learning the Creed, a great fit for OCIA and Confirmation.

How big is it?

Standing, it's about 34 cm long, 8 cm tall and 10.5 cm wide (13.4 x 3.1 x 4.1 in). Folded, it's about the size of a box of playing cards, so it fits in a bag, a glovebox or a coat pocket.

What is it made of? Is it durable?

Super-polished 0.2mm PVC, heat-welded by hand. It's flexible, won't tear like paper, and wipes clean with a damp cloth.

Is it good for children?

Yes, and that was a big part of why I made it. Kids follow the Rosary far better with pictures to look at, and spills wipe right off.

Does it have an Imprimatur?

Not yet, but we're working toward one. For now, Prisms are devotional aids for personal prayer and aren't an official diocesan publication. The prayers are traditional Catholic devotions. You can read more on our Products & Transparency page.

How is the artwork made?

Each image starts as a digital concept and is then edited and colour-tuned by hand for print. Full details are on our Products & Transparency page.
